Best of the Rest (Weekly Links Ending 11/13/11)

When writing this article, I realized that we are already two weeks into November… Holy guacamole!  Having said that, I am starting to get into holiday mode, which means that ALL I can think about is holiday excursions… and, of course, holiday food.  Needless to say, reading articles from my favorite travel bloggers this week hasn’t been very helpful in taming my holiday wanderlust.  Here were this week’s favorites:

  • Next year we plan to travel to surf meccas such as Australia and Hawaii and learn how to ride waves properly… My goal is to be as good as this guy by the time I am done!
  • If you are an avid traveler and happen to be in London this week, be sure to check out the World Travel Market.  This event sounds EPIC and I am so jealous that A Lady in London got the chance to go!
  • Love me some photo essays!  Bologna, Italy is not currently on our travel lst for next year, but after viewing Kate’s photo essay on this beautiful city, I may have to change around our itinerary.
  • Do YOU agree with this list of the 10 Most Hated Airports in the world?  I haven’t been to many of these, but I was shocked to see that Newark, NJ didn’t make the cut!
  • As the holidays are fast approaching (indication: they are now serving red cups at Starbucks), I am sure many of you are planning your holiday travels.  Donna provides some great tips on how to avoid travel nightmares that we should all pay attention to this time of the year… Be merry and be SAFE!
  • In further spirit of the holidays, it’s that time of the year to GET YOUR FAITH ON (if your into that stuff of course)!!!!  Runaway Jane lists the 10 most magnificent churches around the world… Got any to add to the list?
  • I visited Vienna in 2005 and it was hands down the most pristine city I have ever been to…. and Adam proves that even graffiti in Vienna has a classy edge to it!
  • Tony can attest to the fact that I am EXTREMELY Type A when I am making travel plans.  I know that I will need to break this habit and go with the flow on our RTW trip for next year if I want to keep my sanity (and my marriage) intact…Luckily, Amanda Kendle provides some excellent advice on how to stay zen when planning travel.
  • ‘Gay’ Penguins to Be Separated at Toronto Zoo… Yes, you read that right.
  • New York City – Love it or hate it? What’s your vote?

About Meg
Exhausted from traveling every week as a Business Management Consultant early in my career, I took a year off in 2012 to travel at my own pace. I am a high-energy girl that loves being active, eating food, drinking wine, and exploring the world with my partner-in-crime (and husband), Tony! I now reside in Portland, Oregon and continue to write about travel, food, wine, and the awesome adventures we have in the Pacific NW!

You had me at the photo of a Starbucks’ Holiday cup…

My travel question for you: Will you be able to get Starbucks’ red cups next November when you’re abroad??!? #priorities.

They get ya everytime!

Hmmmm def in more populated cities – But I am more excited to branch out from Starbucks and try the local cafes! Plus I know there will be plenty of Starbucks (and Sis-In-Law Starbs Runs) when I return home!

hahah! I went to Starbucks a few weeks ago with high hopes I could get a red cup. Either I was too soon or they don’t have them in Berlin :(

So sad! They do get you in the holiday spirit! Hopefully they make their appearance in Europe soon!
