Best of the Rest (Weekly Links Ending 5/01/11)

by Meg · 2 comments

It is currently 85 and sunny in Miami and Tony I spent today lounging out by our pool.  In these situations, I sometimes ask myself: “Why would you ever want to leave this place!?”  But then each week I read articles from fellow travel bloggers and I learn more and more about all of the great places that are out there and am reminded of why it is that Tony and I want to travel.  Here are my favorite reminders for this week:

  • I love LOVE!!  I cannot wait this week to read all of the guilty pleasure trash magz recap the Royal Wedding…A Lady in London gives a sneak peak.
  • It’s sad but true:  Tony has nicknamed me “The Barnacle” because I love to be clingy.  However, Matt reminds me that an important factor of successfully travelling as a couple is to take time to do things that are just for you.  Well said…and well noted!
  • One thing that Tony and I hope to do when we go abroad is volunteer – Whether it be teaching English or WWOOFing, so I really enjoyed reading Isabel’s tips for volunteering abroad
  • She encourages drinking with locals while on the road and is a fan of Anthony Bourdain…Just two of the reasons why I love Adventurous Kate!
  • Tony will probably end up being the designated driver on our adventures (to avoid potential marriage meltdowns), so I will have to pass these driving tips along to him.
  • I have always wanted to travel to Prague, but I assumed it would be too expensive for our budget this coming year…The Aussie Nomad proves me wrong!
  • I am OBSESSED with Lululemon, but I might have to give prAna a shot when it comes time to buy some travel gear…Thanks Beth!
  • I wonder if they have chocolate covered Zona Cafetera coffee beans in Columbia?  Regardless, my mouth is watering!
  • When I studied abroad in Barcelona during college, I gained 10lbs.  Hopefully, if I stick to these tips, weight gain can be avoided….
  • …Unless I go back to Spain and visit Galicia!

About Meg
Exhausted from traveling every week as a Business Management Consultant early in my career, I took a year off in 2012 to travel at my own pace. I am a high-energy girl that loves being active, eating food, drinking wine, and exploring the world with my partner-in-crime (and husband), Tony! I now reside in Portland, Oregon and continue to write about travel, food, wine, and the awesome adventures we have in the Pacific NW!

haha some parts of europe will hurt the budget but honestly it’s not as bad as you might think, unless you want to compare it to asia of course.

From what we’ve read it sounds like nothing can really compare to Asia, but that’s great to hear about Europe. We both studied abroad in Europe and want to see more this time around!
