Best of the Rest (Weekly Links Ending 5/22/11)

As the month of our travel date gets closer, the days seemingly go by slower.  In order to cope, we read as many travel blogs as we can and try to learn and get inspired.  These are some of our favorite articles from the last week.  Enjoy!
  • When dreaming of big goals, you need to take real actionable steps to make those dreams a reality.  Well, you technically don’t have to… but if you don’t want to live a life full of regret you better start planning!  For travelling around the world, one of the first steps you should take is to build your savings and Caz over at YTravelBlog walks you through many different ways to save up for your big trip and budget once you’re on the road.
  • Michael, from the Art of Backpacking, tackles a tough question about paying off your existing debt vs. following your dreams and travelling the world.  Michael nails it as paying off the debt (or at least the majority of it) should be the top priority.  But that shouldn’t stop Christian from still meeting his long-term goal of world travel… just delay it a little.
  • I had no idea how useful my Kindle 3G could be when we’re on the road but reading Steve’s note has me very excited to try it out!
  • Nomadic Matt tries to calm the fears of all would-be travellers who are anxious about taking the leap.  Instead of fearing how the adventure will affect your career, your friendships, your savings… fear the sadness you will feel if in 20 years you didn’t follow your travel dreams.
  • Ohhhh how we do love food!  If this doesn’t make your mouth water, you have no soul.  I wonder if Meg ever ventured to this market when she lived in Barcelona?
  • Five multi-use items to pack on your RTW adventure… the less we can pack, the less I will have to carry!

Thank you for the mention! The markets in Barcelona are pretty fabulous, but this one is just mouth-watering. Hope you get to get there some day :)
