Our hosts for the Nantucket weekend, Ben and Lauren (with goofy Tony)

Happy Labor Day everyone!  Luckily, Tony and I were able to getaway for the long weekend and enjoy the holiday in Nantucket with 4 of our closest friends.  What a great way to end such an epic summer! On this list for this weekend is sea kayaking and surfing – both of which Tony and I are completely new to.  It should be interesting to say the least, but we are all about trying new things and exploring the unknown (which is why we have decided to go RTW in 4 months time)!  It is through our weekly inspirations from our much loved travel bloggers that keep us eager to take risks and go outside our comfort zone for next year.

Here were our main motivators from this past week:

  • Need an idea on what to read next?  Andrew shares his list of audio books that will transform your travels… and they are free! Thanks for sharing Andrew.
  • Want to know Americas best party cities?  1-3 weren’t much of a shocker, but I have heard great things about Austin recently and this list backs up the rumors.
  • My one question to Mary Jo regarding her Water Adventure Thrills in Cape Town article: Did you personally take this photo?  Badass.
  • In my recent article on 15 Things You Should Know About Meg, I mentioned that my ideal evening consists of food and wine at home amongst friends.  As you can imagine, Andi’s article on her incredible night in Buenos Aires delighted me!  Spot on Andi – Great food and drink with great friends IS such a powerful combination.
  • Forget the beach on Labor Day…  This adventure in the Rockies looks unbelievable!
  • This article came out in July, but I just discovered it this past week.  Even though this road trip through the Atacama Desert sounded grueling at times, Tony and I may just have to rent a car and tour through Chile next year.  Thanks for sharing Marcello!
  • Scott and Christy discuss how they prefer to travel and ask readers, “what kind of traveler are you?” Do you like to lounge around the pool and drink martinis or is it hard to keep yourself still for longer than a few hours?  I fall under both categories depending on my mood, but I believe in frequently switching up your “travel-style” to get the most out of your RTW experiences… Next year should be a whirlwind!
  • I am planning on taking a year off of work through my company’s sabbatical program to go RTW with Tony.  However, after reading this article, 5 years sounds pretty darn amazing (and do-able)!  Congrats Sherry to your Travel-versary!

About Meg
Exhausted from traveling every week as a Business Management Consultant early in my career, I took a year off in 2012 to travel at my own pace. I am a high-energy girl that loves being active, eating food, drinking wine, and exploring the world with my partner-in-crime (and husband), Tony! I now reside in Portland, Oregon and continue to write about travel, food, wine, and the awesome adventures we have in the Pacific NW!

You’re welcome Andi! Your stories are always magical and inspire me for next year. I just came across Part 1 of your wedding and honeymoon series and I cannot wait to read more!
