Best of the Rest (Weekly Links Ending 8/14/11)

by Tony · 4 comments

Another weekly roundup of our favorite travel articles from the best the travel community has to offer. We hope these articles inspire you as much as they have inspired us!

  • You might have seen Meg tweet this out earlier in the week, but Adventurous Kate’s article about Boston really hit the spot. The city we still call home (despite living in Miami for the past two years) is incredible… almost incredible enough to forget about those winters. Almost. As a bonus, check out this cool movie tour of Boston that Kate tried out. It’s wicked awesome.
  • Too much Adventurous Kate love this week? Nahhhh. This Q&A post from Kate is worth it just for the final question. YES! Of course it is worth it to quit your job and travel right now if you don’t enjoy your work. You’re 24 with no debt… if you ever want to travel in your life than there will never be a better time. I’m jealous that you’re 2 years ahead of us!
  • Is there a collection of great travel articles about how to travel to specific locations on the cheap? Shouldn’t there be? This article by Caz over at YTravelBlog and this post by Adam at Vagabondish prove the need.
  • I notified work two fridays ago and have never felt better. Luckily, I followed most of Michael’s steps before I read his article, but he has some great advice on what you need to do and how you need to do it in order to quit work appropriately. I’m staying on the job until the end of October in order to make sure I don’t burn any bridges… but we are definitely counting down the days!
  • Our plan for getting sweet deals when we travel? Have Meg ask. Between her puppy dog “asking for a favor” face and “won’t take no for an answer” attitude… we tend to get decent hookups. Plus, thanks to her consulting job she is a platinum member everywhere… from Delta to Costco.
  • I know that you are supposed to protect your passport in theory… but Audrey from Uncornered Market gives you some great ways to do it in practice.
